61 years ago, when biologist Watson and physicist Crick mentioned double helix in Nature magazine, the door of life was first been opened.

61 years later, under the host of Information and Research Centre of State Administration of Foreign Expert Affairs of PR China, CCPIT Dalian Sub-Council and Dalian Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, WDD-2014 was held in April 25^th, 2014 in Zhen Ao Bio-valley. Jiang Zhenghua, former vice chairman of the Standing Committee of NPC, Li Wancai, mayor of Dalian together with 9 Nobel Prize Laureates has attended the opening ceremony.

Mayor Li Wancai met all of the 9 Nobel Laureates and some executives from Fortune Global 500 Companies. Director Chen Huabei, Nobel Prize Laureate Dr. Thomas C. Südhof and Party Committee Secretary Xu Changyuan have addressed respectively at the opening ceremony. Vice Chairman Jiang Zhenghua announced the beginning of WDD-2014.

Dr. Serge Haroche, Nobel Prize Laureate in Physics, 2012, Dr. Dan Shechtman, Nobel Prize Laureate in Chemistry, 2011, Dr. Akira Suzuki, Nobel Prize Laureate in Chemistry, 2010, Dr. Ada E. Yonath, Nobel Prize Laureate in Chemistry, 2009, Dr. Luc Montagnier, Nobel Prize Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, 2008, Dr. George F. Smoot, Nobel Prize Laureate in Physics, 2006, Dr. Theodor W. Hänsch, Nobel Prize Laureate in Physics, 2005 and Dr. Hartmut Michel, Nobel Prize Laureate in Chemistry, 1988 have also attended the opening ceremony.

Dr. Thomas C. Südhof has addressed on the fields of his research at the Nobel Laureates Forum, which has attracted hundreds of attendees worldwide. Besides, several other forums related to gene therapy, genomic medicine and genetic model have been carried out in the following days. Zhen Ao Bio-valley has been announced as the permanent site of WDD since then.
